PLOT
In 1640, Portugal became independent of the Hispanic Monarchy ending the 60 years rule of Portugal by the Spanish Habsburgs.
The story began in 1642, in Lisbon, when the King died and the throne was for the Queen Adelina II Cortés and for her son, the Prince Enrique Cortés. The noble family Castelo wanted to obtain the maxium power and all the wealth, for his daughter, Catarina. She was engaged with the Prince and they also wanted to kill the Queen. The Queen introduced her best friend, the abbess Noèmia, and to take care of her and prepare her to be and behave a like princess.
One day the abbess and Catarina went to the market to have a walk and buy some products. Meanwhile, the merchants Da Silva, a father and his son, were talking that they needed money and that they had to steal the money and the jewels of the people. When the son Danilo Da Silva saw the engagement ring that Catarina was wearing, he decided to steal it. But, fortunately, the chief magistrate saw it all and put Da Silva into jail. The family Castelo went to talk with the father of Danilo to tell him that if he killed the Queen, they would take out his son of the cell. He accepted the deal. Da Silva obtained one potion from a sorcerer. The family Castelo held a party to celebrate that their daughter and the Prince Enrique would marry the next day and where Da Silva could kill the Queen. The abbess heard the Castelo conversation when they were talking about to kill the Queen and she went quikly to explain it all to her. She broke the engagement very furious and put all the family Castelo into a cell.
Then Portugal began a war against Spain that, after many years, destructions and losses, finally won in 1668 they made the Lisbon treaty where the separation of Portugal from the Spanish Monarchy was especified. During the war the family Castelo could escape and they went to Upoan-Açu, in Brazil here they began a new life.
